Does having choices work to our disadvantage?

Have you ever noticed when you have more than one choice to make; you may wonder if you should have gone with the other choice?
As an example, when I go out to dinner; I struggle sometimes to decide on what meal I should order and then I wonder for the next half hour or so if I should have ordered something else.
Or when I just keep eating food versus when I am satisfied, when my food is portion controlled or plated.
I.e. I used to wonder why; when I had a pre-packed and controlled potion size of nuts or crinkle cut chips (20 grams) I would always be satisfied with the little amount that I had versus when I had access to a full packet I would find myself eating till the entire packet was finished.
Psychologists have revealed; within the brain’s frontal lobe, is what is. called the ‘impact bias’, which makes you believe that different outcomes are more different than in fact they really are.
When we are given no choice, our mind adapts’ versus with choice our mind debates like a Ping Pong match “should I” “shouldn’t I” till you walk away or give in.
It may be nothing to really worry about as scientists have discovered that our brain synthesizes happiness.
Meaning we can just sit out the storm knowing that in no time our mind self-adapts to the situation versus remaining concerned with what was on our mind.
