Yes, there seems to be a lot of gray area in how and when your pre-existing condition will cause you problems. My observation is in the last three years since I got on the ACA, you need to change plans every year, because of rate hikes. So every year at enrollment time, I guess you would be re-evaluated. The only people unscathed are those who have good insurance through their jobs, often paying only a small percentage of the cost. They usually don’t need to worry, unless they change jobs, or maybe if their company decides to re-vamp the insurance offering.
