Topic of thought…
‘an understanding of how changes in technology impact on the way humans communicate, and the ethical issues that surround these changes’.
Okay so basically in simple terms…. Technology is constantly evolving! This technological evolution has an affect on human communication and causes ethical issues to arise due to these changes!

Ever since technology emerged in our world, it has never stopped growing. From the first black and white tv, to the smart tv.. from the brick mobile phone to the iPhone 7, technology keeps on improving. However as technology improves does our human communication also improve?
Well I would answer yes and no…
Reasons for why I say yes:
❖ It is fast and easy to quickly get into contact with someone and make last minute plans, call for help in an emergency and to let someone know you are running late!
❖ Social media communication improves on a photo and video love, through sharing parts of our lives with others and keeping up to date with others even if they live on the other side of the earth!
❖ Our emoji and ability to abbreviate conversations definitely improves!
Reasons for why I say no:
❖ Human face-to-face interaction decreases as more and more people stare at their phone screen to receive interaction. However this is not proper interaction since it is communication via internet. The same value and connection can not be received and given to another person if it is done through a screen. Regardless of technology changing and growing, this human interaction is an underlying and on-going ethical issue of today.
❖ The growing texting and emoji world can cause people (especially the younger generation) to lose proper writing and reading skills. This type of communication is ‘slang’ and should not be used in formal situations such as writing a work email and completing an essay.
❖ With the increase of photo and video sharing, this can also cause some privacy issues. People need to make sure that what they post on the internet is appropriate for all audiences and that it will not affect them if all people see it. Once it’s online, it stays there forever and pretty much anyone can see it! So think twice before you post something!
So this is how changing technology can cause ethical issues. It needs to be used in a proper manner, and not abused.
