Beloved Pet Becomes Hero (feature story)
John Smith, 37, was taking an early swim in the the Charles river like he always has for the past five years, nearly every day with his best friend and trustee dog, Hank. He was completely unaware that danger lurked.
Hank soon decided to hop in the water, as Smith was returning from his swim. Everything was just as it always was, the fear didn’t strike until Smith was out of the water and realized his dog had taken on the 15 foot alligator that had been trailing him.
Smith quickly called 911 afraid for Hanks life. Hank had soon won the fight and the alligator left. He returned with a frightful gash on his back leg which needed 17 stitches.
