Becoming a Jack of all Trades.

Everybody knows the saying:

“A Jack of all trades is a master of none.”

Of course, this is true. If you focus your attention on many things, it’s hard to become better than average in any of those things. But the saying doesn’t end there:

“A Jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”

We all have traits that are necessary, but we never work on more than we have to. For example, most people can cook dinner but will never become professional chefs. But to me, being a Jack of all trades is more than that. It’s a magnificent way of living, and I want to encourage you to integrate it more into your life.

I strongly believe that, in theory, everything that was ever done by a human being before is possible for everyone else to do as well. Of course, some exceptions apply, but if you really want to, you can have a six-pack, you can bake a 5-layer cake, you can climb a mountain, you can write a book, and you can understand complex mathematics. There is almost no barrier that really keeps any goals out of reach forever. Of course, some things are harder to reach than others. And maybe you’ll never break a record or become famous. But that doesn’t take the joy out of learning new things and feeling accomplished when you do.

I was always interested in a lot of things and couldn’t decide what I’d want to do for a living, which hobby to focus on, or which style to pick. So… I didn’t. And it worked out…
