I See and I Say What I See
A Not So Woo-Woo Psychic
I am a psychic.
When I tell new people I’m a psychic, they often react like I can see their innermost secrets. Right there. At happy hour. The typical response is something like, “Oh! Err… so you know what I’m thinking?” It usually comes with some sort of grimace that surely means they were just thinking something totally unseemly and they usually (unconsciously) move their hands somewhere near their face — as if that can stop my seeing powers — now that their hands are in the way.
If you have a similar reaction, think of being a psychic like being a dentist. If you meet a dentist at happy hour, she doesn’t peer into your mouth and check out your molars. If you were to meet me, I wouldn’t be peering into your aura either. If you have a deep dark secret, you have a deep dark secret , but if you don’t want me to see it and help you heal it, I am not going to be able to see it. After new people get over the shock of meeting a real live psychic, they usually want to know how it works and how I became a pyschic.
Recently, the New York Times published an article with the headline “Psychic Mediums Are the New Wellness Coaches: A woo-woo profession is getting a boost from the wellness industrial complex.” A “woo-woo profession.” Ouch. Before I was a psychic, I was an engineer. Logical, detailed, thorough. Definitely not woo-woo. Then I went to psychic school, and developed my intuition, clairvoyance, knowingness. Though there is not a scientific basis for the things that I can do now (i.e., see energy and connect with spirits), all parts of me, even the engineer part, know that they are real. Maybe someday science will be able to prove how I do these things, but in the meantime, here’s a glimpse into my mysterious life as a psychic.
Before I give a reading, I close my eyes, meditate, and access my sixth chakra. This is in the center of your head, and it is your place of intuition. Next, I meet or call a client, ask them to find a comfortable seat, and explain the reading process. Then I close my eyes again and ask them to say their name.
I know it is weird to sit across from someone you are having a conversation with, with your eyes closed. But from this point, I begin to see images and energy. I don’t like to look at energy and you in physical form at the same time, so I close my eyes and look at the energy. Then, you ask a question about some aspect of your life. I describe images that I see in response to your question. And from there it is like any conversation, you would interrupt me, or add on to something I’m saying, or change directions. The conversation just flows.
During a reading, I see things. Sure, sometimes they are dead people. Most of the time, I see images. I see energy. Just for a moment, pretend and let yourself imagine this: you are on a ship, its old like Mayflower times with huge sails. You are on the open ocean, it is vast, and you are loving it. You are at the very front of the ship, the wind is whipping past you, and you feel free, free like you haven’t felt in a long time. Can you imagine that? Those are the kinds of images I see. And they come with a knowingness about what the image means. So for this image, which is one that I saw in a reading, I knew, just simply knew, that this story was about freedom for my client. But for a different client, I would see a different image, have a different knowingness, and a different story would unfold.
When I give a reading, I see and say things that I logically could not know. For instance, I recently started a reading with a client and all I knew was that she was referred by another client, she lives in the eastern time zone, and her name. I started the reading by describing the first image I saw: a very fancy tea pot. I was raised with many Russian traditions, and my grandparents had one of these teapots; we called it a samovar. But a samovar is an obscure reference. How many people could know what a samovar is? So I ask my client, and she responds that no she has never heard of a samovar. My mind goes — ack! Why am I seeing a samovar? But the image remains. A samovar.
So I explain it to my client — a samovar is a fancy tea pot, this one is gold with crystal glasses. And then I just know that she is after more time for herself, time to sit and sip some tea. She agrees, she loves tea, and wished she could take more time for herself. This is the very first image of the reading.
I know some of you may be thinking, lucky guess, lots of us want more time to relax. But, the reading goes on as readings do, to other questions, to other images. I see and I say what I see. Somewhere in the middle, she shares with me that before we talked she was a bit skeptical that this reading would be helpful. But she instantly let go of those doubts from the first image because one of her favorite moments of her childhood was of her mother creating fancy tea parties with her. It is not a coincidence that she had this doubt, and that the first image I saw was the most comforting image from her childhood. I can’t prove to you with science that I really am communicating with her spirit self. But I am.
Through this ability to access my sixth chakra, I am able to communicate from my highest self to the highest self of the person that I am working with. I can’t prove you have a soul, but I know that you do. For me, the soul is the part of me that lights up when I am walking in nature, when I hear my child full out belly giggle, when I feel the love that surrounds me. I’m sure you have had a feeling at some point in your life that feels full, or tingly, or like pure joy, or bliss. That’s the you-you. The real you. The spirit you. And sometimes, we are so busy we forget to access this you-you. Sometimes, we have been so busy for so long, that we forget what that feels like. What that sounds like. And that is where a psychic can help you. We can provide the access to that you.
In years of providing psychic readings, I’ve learned that everyone has a story on the inside. There isn’t a human who has had everything always go exactly as planned. Stories about death, opportunities not taken, corporate lawsuits, childhoods that were shattered, expectations not met, cheating spouses, star seeds, love lost and found, and fortunes that manifest and disappear. I hear lots of stories, and then I open the communication with the real you.
And I get to do that without judgement. I won’t tell you what to do, I won’t tell you what you should do, and I won’t tell you what’s going to happen in the future. Instead, I see you. Right where you are. Then I communicate to you what you already know, but somehow can’t put your finger on. Yesterday, my client said to me “No, I didn’t know that about me, but yes now that you say it, yes that is exactly what is going on.”
Can this knowing be scientifically proven? I don’t know — that is beyond my skill set. But even Albert Einstein said, “The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion that stands at the cradle of true art and true science.” As a psychic, I get to access the real me and the real you. I live in the wonder and awe of this ability to return people to themselves. I get to trust and believe in a life that is bigger than science.
