Freedom to discriminate in Mississippi

As someone who was born and raised in what used to be the USSR, I am deeply saddened with the backlash any progressive move for LGBTQ+ rights automatically gets from the patriarchal society, not just in the US but everywhere in the world. In my homeland of Russia that I’ve been removed from for the past 10 years, things are steadily falling into the abyss for the LGBTQ+ folk — discrimination is made into an official nationwide law embraced by the majority. I’ve also lived in the Deep South (Alabama) for a few years, and got a chance to experience discrimination firsthand as an immigrant. It’s very unfortunate that the good ol’ boys still get to decide that if we don’t look or talk like the majority of them, then we’re not welcome.
