I present the 2 engine variants of the BMW brand that I will purchase in the near future. The 340i G20 model started production in 2019 with some impressive features. The European model has 374 HP and x-Drive included, and in the US market it has 382 HP and can be ordered without x-Drive , coupled to an 8-speed ZF gearbox. Torque is impressive for a gasoline engine, 500 NM. It comes standard with M-performance brakes. M-performance exhaust and other parts made by the M division. It ‘s not pure M, but it’s a perfect alternative between the 330i and the M3. The official acceleration is 4.4 seconds 0–100, but there are many videos on YouTube with 4.1 seconds. The 0–200 needs 14.1 seconds. Choosing this model is done if you are really passionate about the sound of the engine [6 in line] and not looking at fuel consumption. As reliability seems to be very successful B58.

The LED headlights are standard as is the M sport suspension. The seats and steering wheel are M sport from the M performance package.

340d is a diesel engine of the latest generation B57 with 2 turbines and a MHEV engine (Partial Hybrid Electric Vehicle). This engine is fantastic from all points of view. Motorization 340i has high performance but also high consumption, compared to 340d the performance is high and low fuel consumption..

As performance we have 340 Hp and 700 NM. Coupled with an electric motor in the 11 HP gearbox. This electric motor helps a lot to leave the place and the tax, where it is charged to the engine cylinder. This engine appeared at the beginning of 2020. It can’t be ordered without x-Drive unfortunately. I’m not an x-Drive fan but at such power and torque it is necessary to put all the power on the asphalt.

The acceleration is 4.6 seconds 0–100 an excellent time for a diesel engine. I currently own a 530d F10 which I am happy with but I want an upgrade in a maximum of one year to one of the 2 engines listed above, of fuel consumption, almost double between the 2 models. The diesel car is reliable, more resistant if it has a proper maintenance, but it comes bundled with a more expensive maintenance. In total there are 2 very high performance and reliable engines. Whoever has experience with one of the 2 models please share them with me, I still have time to decide what to buy.
