The Making of Juno House
Stepping inside Juno House is like entering an oasis. Tucked away in the middle of downtown Barcelona, you are drawn into the courtyard by the high-rise raspberry building, and you stay to explore what’s behind its doors. What only 10 months ago was a completely blank slate, a retired and vacant workshop, is now the dazzling work of founding minds and partners. Divided into two buildings, Juno House offers unique spaces which suit the demand of women in Barcelona — a sanctuary to work, network, and be well, all in one place.
The two buildings are separated by purpose, but connected by concept. There is La Nave-the main hub, and its sister, La Farinera-3 floors of recreation and relaxation.
La Nave
Upon entering the Nave, you’ll find that the raspberry/terracotta color palette continues. The wood and stone furnishings are as elegant as they are inviting. The architecture dreamed up by The Room Studio is like a puzzle your eyes can’t help but put together as they trace the walls. It is an open floor space, separated by natural markers, to distinguish spaces like the Juno Cafe, the stage, the Juno Shop, Zoom rooms, Board rooms, Juno library… Each space invites you to its purpose; working, drinking, relaxing. You can envision yourself doing it all after just one look. Each space was meticulously designed with the Juno Woman and her needs in mind. The founders’ vision came to life with the collaboration of our partners who shared the tenacity to create what is now known as Juno House. Throughout la Nave, The Room Studio can be thanked for their striking interior design. The furniture is far from ordinary, and their partnership provided the ability to find and obtain pieces that make all of the difference. Even on a smaller scale, Juno library is carefully stocked with favorite titles from publishing companies Phaidon and Cinto Tintas. Juno Cafe exclusively serves fresh and local food in collaboration with Veritas, and the fantastic drink menu derives from first-class partners such as Mahou, Torres, and Beam & Suntory. The flow from room to room is methodically designed to accommodate Juno Women in all parts of their day.
La Farinera
Just when you thought you had seen the best, you take a left hand turn through an arched doorway to La Farinera. Each floor is distinctly its own, but the Juno House motif runs deep within its design. Starting with the ground floor, there is the Club House. Perhaps the Juno space with the most contrast to the rest, the vibe is intentionally lower-lighted, to adapt to evening events. A New York inspired lounge with focal points like a full cocktail bar and a fireplace, the Club House is for intimate business meetings and after work cocktails.
Floor 1- Little Juno
One floor up, a stark contrast, the elevator doors open to BRIGHT, playful, and young wallpaper, selected specifically to brighten the mood by our partner Peek & Pack. You instantly know that you have arrived at Little Juno. This space was designed with kids at the forefront- the fun shapes, small furniture, a wall of children’s books from Little Readers, and handmade toys placed in collaboration with Peek & Pack. However, the Juno mothers were kept in mind too, as there is a space for breastfeeding and baby-care just behind the curtain. The vision of Little Juno was to provide a safe and enriching space where mothers know their children are being well taken care of while they are working on themselves in the same place.
Floor 2- Juno Glow
Another floor up, and we are getting into the mom self care moments. Juno Glow is the home of wellness in the form of beauty. Specially designed with a shower room, tables and chairs, arched mirrors and breath-taking vanities, this space is all about taking care of your body. The handcrafted wooden chairs by Heaps & Woods create an area of Glow where women can coexist, through set workshops or spontaneous collaboration. Where products are needed, our partners provided- all natural products from Le Beau Organics and Nature Bissé are displayed throughout the vanities and shower room. The space is often transformed for a glam session, where our makeup and skin care partners Sisley or Valmont will bring in their experts and products that Juno women love, filling the space with the feeling of beauty.
Top Floor- Wellness
The top floor of La Farinera looks different from the two before, just as the second did from the first. An open wood floor invites you to use the space as your own. Natural light streams through the open windows, inviting fresh air to flow from the Mediterranean climate outside these walls. From high intensity fitness classes to tranquil yoga sessions, the Wellness studio is the ultimate space for well-being. The environment has been curated to accompany the healing energy of this floor.
The beauty of Juno House is that it was built from the ground up, completely from a vision. There was no need to work around any existing structure, so every detail was built Juno was with full intention, keeping the Juno Woman in mind each step of the way. The realization of Juno House is a dream come true, and its doors are open for Barcelona to discover.
