Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) is intelligence produced from publicly available information that is collected, analyzed, and shared for the purpose of aiding a specific investigation. OSINT investigations exist in many domains including cybersecurity, law enforcement, and trust and safety.

OSINT can be gathered from diverse data sources, but some of the most common are online resources like Wikipedia, social media platforms like Facebook, and network infrastructure information like DNS records. This information often provides a direction for an investigation to continue and can be useful in connecting people, places, devices, and more.
