Robot design

Robot vacuum cleaners with LDS lidar are similar to each other, but to be honest Viomi V2 looks a little different. It has a fantastic dark gray finish. On top of the body is the LDS lidar, which acts as a scanner for the cleaning area and helps to map the area. There is a logo in the middle of the case. One physical button works like the Home and Power buttons.

Under the top cover you will find a trash can and a robot cleaning tool, very similar to the one in the Roborock S5. The bin is easy to replace with a water tank.

At the bottom is the main cleaning brush, which has alternating rubber and fluff blades. The rubber blades of the brush are stiffer than what we are used to seeing in other similar models. Presumably a stiff brush will work better on carpet, knocking out more dust and debris hidden inside the pile.

Two large wheels can overcome obstacles up to 20 mm high and one side brush that picks up debris along walls and skirting boards.

Cartography and navigation

As we said, the Viomi 2 generation is equipped with an LDS laser on the turret hull. The laser scans the surroundings of the cleaning area, making a map of the room. Therefore, the robot knows where it needs to clean. Mapping helps the robot not to clean the already harvested areas. Mapping makes cleaning and navigation more efficient.

Why does mapping matter?

A robot vacuum cleaner without mapping just runs chaotically until the battery runs out. He can walk over the same points several times, leaving some areas untouched. With the help of mapping, you can see where the robot was and that it covered the entire cleaning area without leaving any space intact. Viomi 2 moves back and forth in straight lines, methodically following the created map.

Viomi V2 has to spend 57 minutes cleaning 42 sq.m .. For example Roborock S6 does the same for ~ 41 minutes, but it is worth noting that Roborock did a good job of optimizing the cleaning path so that the robot could finish faster.

Viomi supports storing multiple cleaning cards in memory. The app stores several different maps, making it ideal for homes with multiple floors.

Zone cleaning is a useful option. If you want the robot to clean within a specific area, you can place it on the map.

The robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with 10 sensors. These sensors work together to help him navigate without bumping into objects or falling off steps.

Sensors:

  • LDS navigation module
  • Trash can sensor
  • Water tank sensor
  • Anti-collision sensors
  • IR receiver
  • Fan speed sensor
  • Installed mop sensor
  • Drop sensors
  • Wi-Fi
  • Accelerometer
  • Height sensors
  • Electronic compass sensor

Cleaning performance

How does work Viomi V2 pro?

The vacuum cleaner has a side brush that works in tandem with the main brush to clean and collect dust and dirt, directing it into the suction channel and then into the bin.

How does Viomi V2 work on carpet?

Viomi can negotiate obstacles up to 20 mm high, making it ideal for thicker carpets. There are 3 cleaning modes for different needs: eco, normal, turbo. The V2 noise level is about 69–76 dB, the same as that of the Roborock S5.

Viomi V2 is safe for allergy sufferers and asthmatics

Inside the trash can is a washable HEPA filter that lasts longer than non-washable. The robot is safe for those suffering from asthma and allergies. When the filter is clean, the robot sucks better and generally performs better, especially on carpet.

Hard floor and floor cleaning

In principle, almost all modern robotic vacuum cleaners perform well on hard surfaces. Most of them are designed for dry cleaning only — collecting debris by sending it to the trash bin. Wet vacuuming robots are better because they give you the ability to not just vacuum, but also wipe floors. This function is very useful, it will save you from washing the floor by hand.

What does Viomi V2 offer?

The robot is equipped with a dust collector and a water tank, which means that the cleaner can wipe or do two things at the same time.

It has one of the largest water tanks on the market. The 560ml volume means the robot covers a large cleaning area before the water runs out. With the 150 ml water tank that most robots are equipped with, you can get about 30 minutes to clean the floors, which is usually enough for an area of up to 20–30 square meters. When Viomi washes with a mop, its movement follows a Y-shaped path, which is more efficient than simply dragging the mop, as it moves over the same points twice.

To prepare the robot for washing, insert a water container in place of the bin and attach a microfiber cloth to the bottom. Just push it in until it clicks. Very comfortably! The nozzle for mopping the floors is similar to that of the Roborock models.

Also in the application you can adjust the water supply level depending on your needs. There are two microfiber cloths: one for cleaning floors, it absorbs water and is suitable for large areas, the other for moistening floors when vacuuming. When the device is not moving, no water leaks.

Battery life

The robot can work for up to 120 minutes on a single charge and will resume cleaning if it hasn’t finished working before it runs out of energy.

Application and features

The app is similar to what we saw in Mi Home apps. You can switch between modes, schedule the cleaner to work at a specific time, monitor his movements, etc.

In addition, as with other cleaning robots with the LDS navigation module, Viomi does not cross restricted areas that can be set using the app.

Make your robot work in the kitchen with zoned cleaning

The operation of the vacuum cleaner can be monitored in real time, which you can see in the application.
