A deed of kindness

With due excuse from John Keats I want to say, “A deed of kindness is a joy forever”. I heard it in my childhood when probably I was in my 7th grade, but often wonder how it is possible? I’m doing a career-prep fellowship of Amal academy these days based in Lahore. They encouraged me to be kind to the colleagues and group mates while on the work and gave us a project to perform some little deeds of kindness in our daily life. This enabled me to experience the quote of John Keats that I have explained before. So these deeds can be very little as well. I strongly recommend you to be perform these little kind deeds, these give you a sense of restlessness and comfort like never before.

I too decided to do little deeds of kindness but could not find what to do so I start thinking about it. After some time I was going on my bike on a major road I saw a bike going in front of me with the foot stand of the bike in its position. It can be a reason for a very severe accident as I have heard about it before, so speed up my bike to reach him. Luckily I caught him on the traffic signal, I told him about his bike’s stand. He lifted the stand and went away. I felt very joyful as I have saved a person from a possible severe accident. Once I gave lift to a police officer on my bike too to his place of appointment, just for the sake of nothing. In fact it was a deed of kindness and self-responsibility as I was a cause of the police officer to perform his duty of citizen’s safety.

Once at night I saw an old man dressed in mudded white clothes from turban to his toe outside a mosque in the darkness. I saw him with the aid of the headlight of my bike and he, seeing me coming stood and advanced his arms in front of him with the palms upward, demanding money from me. I went through it in a speed and passed him without noticing a lot. Then I thought that I should help him as he is a very old man with a long purely white beard and standing alone in this dark night indicates that he is a needy person. So, I took a U-turn, stopped and picked up some money from my valet and put them in my hand, went to him, gave him and quickly advanced. It was because I do not want to be recognized, which was very difficult due to the darkness and the large helmet on my head. The solace I felt that night was priceless. If you also want to enjoy that solace and comfort then please move and do some other little deeds of kindness because “A deed of kindness is (always and priceless) joy forever”. So what would you do?
