I really liked your article. I have been pondering over a similar thought for a while now. Many school authorities make hasty, ignorant decisions that leave both the kid and the parents at risk – not always physical, but surely mental.
I was teaching in a school 2 years back. So I have also seen the other side of the coin. There are parents who absolutely have no idea of what is going on in their child’s life. I don’t say they are bad parents, for everybody has their own compulsions that make them act in a certain way. But turning a blind eye to their needs- parents, children and the school is wrong.
There has to be harmony achieved. A state where parents are not under more stress once their kids are at school; kids are not at risk-physically, mentally and emotionally; and schools’ are able to achieve what they are actually seeking out to achieve- holistic development of the kids!
That is the future I would like to witness… and soon! A space of collective-shared-responsibility.
