Eat that frog with a pomodoro
A goal without a plan is just a wish.
We live in an era of technology and advancement where we want to stay connected to our friends and family every single second of the day. The technology has become the biggest distraction for the youth now a days. Whenever we try to focus on something a notification pops up on the screen and we get distracted very easily.
In ted talk Tim urbane talks about the gratification monkey and the panic monster. The gratification monkey stops us from doing hard work and divert our minds to something that gives us temporary fun and there we wake up our panic monster. This monster wakes up on deadlines and he constantly gives us warnings to do work. The need of the hour is that we should hand over the wheel of our mind to rational decision maker and not to the gratification monkey.

We all get distracted very easily, some by family members, some by games, and many by their mobile phones. If these distractions exceeds then we can never have our tasks done on time. For this we need few things to do, one of which is POMODORO TECHNIQUE.

Some of you might heard about it for those who don’t know I am going to tell you by sharing my experience.
I decided to give a test of English language, IELTS. For this I have to prepare many things like reading, writing practices, report making etc. For Thursday I decided to search and practice reading exercises.
I started my preparation at 10.00 in night because I think I have least distractions at night time. I set my clock at 25 minutes after which I was going to have a break. So within first 10 minutes I opened google and searched for different ielts online courses.

I spent these 10 minutes with full attention but then suddenly a notification of facebook popped on my mobiles screen. I started reading that and started commenting on a post. That wasted 10 minutes of my time and suddenly I had a thought that I was doing some task so I quickly closed the facebook tab and again started studying.

Somehow I completed my 25 minutes of study then the best part came and that is a little break. I bribe myself by watching TV, chocolates and tea. After a break of 5 minutes I again started practicing some more and set my clock for 25 minutes.

Then I get tired of practicing and thought to take a break but I didn’t because unfortunately I woke my panic monster. I was running out of time because my 25 minutes were about to get over and I was done with just 1 exercise. So I continued practicing because I knew that
Procrastination is the thief of time

Finally after a continuous hard work I finished 4 exercises till 12.30 a.m.
I learned few things from this activity that when we start our work we should get free of every other activity and task. We should put our phones on silent mode so that we see our notifications after the set time. Short breaks are necessary to get your mind relaxed otherwise you will get tired and frustrated. A little bribe is always the best part. You will be done with your work when you are passionate to do it. Time management is the key to success.
