Recently, Harvard University has exerted its influence in an effort to end the practice of homeschooling. While preparing for a panel discussion on mistreatment of children raised in homeschooling families, the school published an article by Erin O’Donnell attempting to justify a ban on homeschooling. O’Donnell quotes Professor Elizabeth Bartholet, who claims homeschooling should be illegal because it “violates children’s right to a ‘meaningful education’ and their right to be protected from potential child abuse, but it may keep them from contributing positively to a democratic society.” …
