The Scorpion and the Frog

A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the
scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The
frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The scorpion
says, "Because if I do, I will die too."

The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream,
the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of
paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown,
but has just enough time to gasp "Why?"

Replies the scorpion: "Its my nature..."

I lifted this off of an Aesop’s Fable site after it was recanted to me by my good friend Melissa as we walked along the Iron Horse Trail last week.

The story is both disturbing and enlightening. What’s in store for many of us in 2016 depends on how far we’re willing to trust others, change paths, risk failure and learn from successes.

Good luck to another year of you (or the reinvention of you — whichever path you end up choosing). Either way, I hope it to be an adventure because that’s the sweetest part of living.

Life is what you make it.
