YES. You said what I was going to say. The numbers on the election may be over (and I can’t say how freaking happy I am about that), but the reality of the stinking mess of sexism and racism behind the curtain that was ripped away by the election is just starting to sink in.

As painful as this election cycle has been, as disgusting and horrific and violent as it is, I hope that it’s brought an awareness that cannot continue to be denied to people who have been able to turn a blind eye and live in a bubble. Optimistic? Possibly. But I know for absolute sure that this year has changed people. They have realized things about themselves and society that they may not have known before. And hopefully that will continue on.
