Blog like a Casey Neistat Vlog

Over the last year I have been tuning in to every single vlog episode on Casey Neistats channel. He, just under a year ago began posting daily vlogs. At that time he felt that he was not creating enough movies, and needed an outlet to practice. Another reason was to build a community for his app BEME that was going to be launched on his channel.

For anyone that does not know Casey, check out some of his earlier work here, and here, and perhaps here… and some of his latest ones and perhaps one you might have see, his viral video SNOWBOARDING WITH THE NYPD.

As part of my blogging daily commitment I am going to adapt and adopt some of the lessons I have learnt from watching Casey on his blog. He is one of the most inspiring, hard working, committed people I know and follow religiously.

Show up every day, “Work hard, be brave”

Casey puts out a vlog every single day without fail. If you’ve been following his blog then you would notice the change in style over time. However, from the start, the quality of his blog was extremely high. Casey has been creating movies for years, so he has a history of building his craft. But for someone as busy as he is, his blog is a perfect example of someone committing to a task, doing the hard work and delivering on it. Everyday without fail.

Do more

Casey shares on his blog that this is the best time in his life. He is at the peak of his powers. He is hungry, creative, has all the energy in the world. This knowledge compels him to act on that knowledge and make the best of this time. He has the words “Do more” tattoo on his arm. Its a start reminder to himself, that while he is working and creating, and kicking ass, to do more.

Here he states it so eloquently..

“I think the essence of hard work is one that’s pretty straightforward. You’ll never be the best looking. You’ll never be the tallest, most talented, or most capable. you’ll never have the most money and there will always be someone whose better at whatever you’re doing that you are…

But you can always be the hardest working person in the room and I think the hardest working person will always win”

Forget perfect

Perfect is the enemy of progress. Casey shoots his blog throughout the day. He organises great content. But there are times when he perhaps did not get to shoot enough footage. Well that’s ok, he’ll improvise, do some timeless Casey style, just sit infront of the camera and speak. But key to it all he just creates. At every level and standard. He shows up. everyday I get a notification in my inbox that Casey just posted a video. Everyday!
