Day 6 — #writeingrief

Before you know what kindness is
You must be strong
Peel emotions back in layers.
You must be clean
Without wisps of self deception.
You must be empty
Devoid of nourishing breath.
You must be brave
To cut off rotten parts of grief.

Before you know what kindness is
You must be cruel
Lash words that cut the silence.
You must be reckless
Light fires in your wake.
You must be chaos
Spin wildly out of control.
You must keep moving
To pass the dangerous side of grief.

Before you know what kindness is
You must tread lightly
Step on pieces of your heart.
You must be open
Expose holes inside your chest.
You must be limber
Twist loss into the living.
You must be gentle
To hold the body of this grief.
