One thing we’re starting to see pop up all the time now is the word ‘eco-system!’ It seems to be the new way to describe a group of people or companies working together. Or maybe we are just more carefully designing the way we do work together?
What does it actually mean?
“A biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment” or “a complex network or interconnected system.”

When you look at companies like Google, Apple and Facebook (the kinda biggish ones!), they’re all building this large network/eco-system of products and businesses within an industry that all share data, and work together seamlessly. Google is a more information driven eco-system, Apple a more entertainment and media driven and Facebook more connectivity and communication.

For large businesses like them it is most likely a strategy to own their market and have a full platform of services for people. They want to be the “one stop shop” of sorts for their niche. Makes sense, right?!
But…like I spoke about in my TEDx Talk, what if the building of eco-systems that align with natural law was based on more than our ego? What if we built eco-systems that are truly collaborative and guided toward collective visions instead of individual ideals?
I wrote a longer post about this on my blog here. Feel free to check it out and I’d love to hear your feelings about this topic too…you can email me here too!
