A Close Look at Online Aromatherapy Classes

There is no better introduction to aromatherapy than through a short course. For beginners, online aromatherapy classes are just a must. Aromatherapy is the controlled therapeutic administration of highly concentrated essential oils. The therapeutic potential of aromatherapy is yet to be fully exploited and that is why hundreds of thousands of people enroll for aromatherapy classes worldwide. So, when you want to enroll in aromatherapy courses, where do you start? Let’s have a look.

The starting point for training in aromatherapy is physiology and anatomy. For most careers in Complementary Healthcare, under which aromatherapy falls, a Level 3 Qualification in Anatomy, Pathology and Physiology is the starting point. Before you can progress to study your chosen therapy course, you must have deep understanding of how the body functions. It would be unprofessional, and in fact dangerous, to perform hands-on treatment without first understanding how the body is structured and functions. Just the same way you wouldn’t attempt to improve a car’s performance without first understanding the mechanics of its engine. More often, online aromatherapy classes incorporate elements of physiology, pathology and anatomy. Other courses, on the other hand, may require a Level 3 Qualification as a pre-requisite. In case pathology, physiology or anatomy is listed as an Accredited Prior Learning (APL) for a course, then it is a must that you hold a qualification in pathology, anatomy and physiology before begin.

Before you, as an aromatherapist begin working and treating members of the public, you need insurance to protect yourself and your clients. Besides that, you will also have to show that you hold qualifications in aromatherapy and that your physiology and anatomy is up to the set standards. The industry standard for anatomy and physiology is the Level 3 certificate. However, if the physiology and anatomy is not given, you need to find out if another qualification in the same is given. If a separate qualification is not given, you may have problems getting insured. On the same breath, your physiology and anatomy may not be accepted as Accredited Prior Learning for another qualification. As such, it worth the extra effort to get an accredited Level 3 certificate because it will open many doors for you.
