Why TaTaTu Will Succeed
Here are some facts. By the end of Q2 2018, Facebook registered close to 1.5 billion daily active users and over 2.2 billion monthly active users. Even more interestingly, in the past 12 months, the company generated over US$47 billion in advertising revenue alone[1].
That’s many billions of dollars in exchange for monetizing users’ data for free.
Moving on to Netflix’s metrics. During the past 12 months, the company generated over US$13 billion in streaming services revenue from approx. 115 million paying members[2].
We could go on and explore Instagram, YouTube, HBO Go, Disney, and many more entertainment and social media companies. But there’s no need. The point is that these institutions earn massive amounts of revenue primarily derived from the data their users generate and (willingly or unwillingly) provide, and paid subscriptions, and only elite groups of shareholders reap the economic benefits. One could go as far as speculate that these stockholders constitute less than 1% of these platforms’ user base, which seems unfair considering that the remaining 99% are the ones that actually generate the value.
Now, imagine a network with some of the best social media and entertainment content available in the world that not only is free, but also redistributes the value it generates among its users and content creators. Well, that’s TaTaTu! Using blockchain technology, the platform is able to create an improved experience for users, content creators and brands, and provide full transparency on how value is distributed among those network participants.
Today, people hand over their data to the platforms they use, who monetize it freely, without rewarding the users. TaTaTu rewards users and their friends for participating on the platform and consuming content. Content creators also earn very little from their social interactions and followers. They typically have to reach out to brands to monetize their work. TaTaTu rewards both individuals and organizations automatically for the content they create, without the need to sign contracts with specific brands. And, in TaTaTu, the advertisers can get better data and place their brands in a more secure and efficient manner.
What do Instagram, Netflix and YouTube offer today that TaTaTu doesn’t? Well, honestly, a lot more — they have been participating in the market for many years, while TaTaTu just launched. But, in just two months, over 300,000 people around the world have signed up to the platform. There clearly seems to be user interest for monetizing their data, while gaining access to exclusive, premium content for free.
Once some of the original films, documentaries and TV shows are released exclusively in TaTaTu (see recently announced productions below) and Hollywood celebrities, famous athletes and highly-influential bloggers migrate to the platform, millions new users will do so too, and the advertisers will follow. Why? Because the long-term value proposition of a network, like TaTaTu, is just much better.
