Water famously melted the Wicked Witch of the West and, apparently fearing wet weather might also liquefy the evil in him, President Donald Trump skipped a WWI commemoration event in France on Saturday.

Hours before the Armistice ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, a paranoid Mr. Trump told aides traveling with him, “This is definitely a plot by Macron to get me wet and melt me in front of the whole world — I can’t let that happen.”

Instead, the president watched television in his hotel room while world leaders visited monuments and military cemeteries to lay wreaths in honor of their nation’s fallen heroes.
