A New Social Media Hub for Gamers: Facebook Gaming
Once a pioneer in the online social sphere, Facebook is now one of the oldest running social networks. For the most part, its popularity has passed the test of time. But in recent years, the social media platform has begun to lose relevance. The youngest generation of internet users gravitate more towards apps like Snapchat and the Facebook-owned Instagram. In an attempt to compete with higher ranking social media sites, Facebook has decided to offer something special to gamers: Facebook Gaming.

Facebook Gaming is a new tab which aggregates all of your gaming-related content into one place. The website is full of tip and trick heavy groups made for discussions on specific video games. Now, on Facebook Gaming, gamers can view posts from all gaming groups by simply navigating to this new tab. This makes it harder to miss those awesome guides and pointers that otherwise would’ve been drowned out by a sea of other posts.
Additionally, Facebook Gaming will highlight gaming livestreams, news that will interest you and app-based games you may want to try out!
Details are still emerging as Facebook Gaming is currently in development. There will also be a standalone Facebook Gaming app, with more functions and features than the in-app tab. This will be released on a beta testing basis for Android users in the coming weeks. The concept sounds interesting, but I’m a bit confused on how it will truly function. At the Game Developers Conference, Facebook will discuss more about their projected plan. Either way, I think that this could be a refreshing new change for gamers using Facebook. This update gives gamers the opportunity to connect with game-specific communities on a more functional level, which I look forward to!
