Re-Mission: HopeLab Apps Improve Youth Health

Undoubtedly, technology changes human behavior. HopeLab, a health-focused research and development organization, leads the pack. In 2001, HopeLab’s President and CEO Pam Omidyar proposed a novel idea: create a video game to help kids fight cancer. Re-Mission, the video game, was born. After the initial game deployment, players felt stronger and more optimistic about recovery.
Since the release of Re-Mission, HopeLab’s focus broadened to include a range of technology-based health solutions. You may ask yourself, “So what? Health tech isn’t new.” Every app and video game HopeLab produces is deeply rooted in biomedical research. In fact, entire departments are full of the top researchers and practitioners in discovery science. The organization’s forged relationships include Cigna, the Nurse-Family Partnership and Stanford University’s Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program. Together, HopeLab and supporting organizations change human health — for the better. This technology builds a strong bridge between technology and emotion well-being.
