Adulting But Not

As a senior in college, I’m not sure there’s nothing quite as daunting as attempting to balance the whole adult but not thing… Being told you’re an adult but also treated like a child is a hard to take dichotomy, and it’s even harder to be able to grow from.

I mean, being able to balance a checkbook is nice — but also a little soul-sucking when you realize that your spend account has a whopping two cents in the till. Then when you try to work in order to save up some cash in case of an emergency. You’ll be told that school is your “job” and not to spread yourself too thin. When you finally accept your need to reestablish balance within your academic life, you get chastised for knowing your limits.

However it’s important to remember that through these trials will grow a stronger you — a more capable, knowledgeable you who is better at adulting. Until then, try to surf the wave and let it be. You may be grown up but not, but you’re also getting better every day.
