Loss of productivity may be a point that could have some traction with the pro-business (not so pro-people) set. Asthma alone costs almost 4 BILLION dollars a year in lost productivity. (Not to mention the $50 B it costs in medical expenses.) Factor in that much of the cause of these lost work and school days, hospitalizations, and early deaths are due to air pollution, and we can start to see how medical expenditures are hardly a closed loop.
