Love this essay — thank you!
The evolution of language around trans is fascinating and ongoing, from the ‘assigned language’ of my day through the self-definition currently in progress.
When I was in transition nearly three decades ago we (trans women) embraced ‘MtF’ if only because it was better than the other term then available: ‘male transsexual’.
Today, like you, I use AMAB and ‘trans woman’ when discussing things within a trans framework.
But most of the time I settle for ‘woman’. :-)
