Bernie has and will never put a leash on his followers (and he shouldn’t). I don’t know if he’s ever denounced rudeness and misinformation regarding opposition. Clearly TYT, which is a Bernie mouthpiece/surrogate, doesn’t care if they disseminate misinformation and half-truths, the same as Fox & Friends, etc. (I can’t recall if their sister programs are as bad about this; they’re largely opinion-based podcast type shows that likely get all their facts (“facts”) from TYT). This misinformation unleashed trend has bled into Yang supporters as well, and a little bit into Beto supporters, though much of this is concentrated on Youtube and Twitter, respectively. (Misinformation about candidates is rampant in the alt-right both on and offline).
Bernie won’t be nominated by the DNC for the sole purpose that he doesn’t play by their rules. Plain and simple. I didn’t want to see this in 2016 but I see it now. Last night at the LJ Dinner this was apparent, as Bernie used notes (read directly from them) even though notes were disallowed. What’s more, the DNC wants control over the country again with good reason, so they will nominate a unifier, and Bernie is the opposite of a unifier: rather, he and his company set fires… metaphorically and, sometimes, literally (see: yellow vests).
If Bernie wanted to calm down his base (which he probably won’t) he could, after dropping out (which he won’t until given no other option), reassure his base that whoever the nominee is, that they are not [insert repeated toxic misinformation here] but rather they are [insert fact here]. Not that it would do any good, because just as Hitler taught us and 45 repeated, if you repeat a lie enough times, people believe it.
Yay humans. We’re not gullible at all.
