I can empathize with that feeling of not quite being in either world and the concept of “passing”.

Your story about your friend and your dog is too funny! It’s always a little amusing when our friends and family forget that we’re, well… disabled. This weekend, one of my friends apparently was delivering a full speech on my bad side — only to realize I hadn’t heard a single word! He slunk around to my good side, mumbling, “So — now that I’ve remembered you can’t hear on that side — as I was saying…”
