Thinking About Trying Glue On Nails?

Some people have nervous habits that they can not control. Some people pull out hair, twirl hair around their fingers, or perhaps they bite their lip without realizing what they are doing. Some people pace when anxious, and some people bite their fingernails. In fact, biting fingernails may be the most common thing people do that they wish they could stop, aside from habits like drinking or smoking. If you can not seem to nip this habit in the bud, and you want to grow longer nails, glue on nails may be an answer for you, though not always.

Glue on nails are not as sturdy or long lasting as nails that are put on in a salon, but if you do it right, they can go a few days to a week before they start to come off. The glue is not as strong as what a salon uses to attach nails, but the glue does work as long as it is fresh and has not been sitting around a warehouse for too long. If you have never had longer nails, start with some short nails to begin, as getting use to longer nails actually takes a while. You want something shorter so that you can start to get use to the different ways that you have to do things with your hands in your daily life.

The shortest type is usually labeled as ‘sport’ glue on nails. These are shorter than other types and look good on almost any finger. One benefit is that you can still type with these, and that is important to many people today whether they have to type for work or just for hobby at home on the computer. Not only can this get someone into the practice to using longer nails, it also stops someone from biting their own nails, a very effective way to break that habit, at least in the short term.

Once you have gotten the hang of shorter glue on nails, you may find that they are all that you need and you don’t want to work with anything else. That may not be true though, as you may want to try longer ones for special occasions. If so, you can remove the nails via the instructions that came with them, and then move up to nails that are a bit longer. You can go with a style that has a more square end or ones that are perfectly rounded. See what you like best and give them a try. Remember, the glue is not the strongest adhesive for these nails, so you may find that some pop off in daily activities.

After wearing your glue on nails for a while, remember to give your nails a rest. Your nails breathe through the surface, so if you wear a lot of polish or fake nails, you should give them a rest for a day once in a while for the health of your nails. After you have worn these for a while, you may have broken your nail biting habit, and you can then grow your own nails long if you wish.
