Why You Need to be Oil-Pulling

Oil-Pulling (OP) has been around for centuries, at least 3000 years in Ayurvedic Medicine. If you have amalgam (metal) fillings or crowns do not do OP. Disclaimer: I’m not a medical professional or doctor, this article is advice, not medical certainty. OP is swishing a tablespoon of oil around your mouth for 20 minutes. The best time to do OP is first thing in the morning, possibly when checking emails, or in a morning shower. When OP is done first thing in the morning it provides the highest rate of detox on an empty stomach.

Make sure to discard the oil after swishing into the bin/ trash can, not in the sink, it can clog drains. A lot of different vegetable oils can be used yet organic coconut oil is the best choice because of the anti-bacterial effects.

Oil works in your mouth the same as dish detergent to dirty dishes. The oil pulls bacteria from teeth and gums. The bacteria is fat soluble.

  1. Take one spoonful of coconut oil and eat it, then chew a little. Chew a little until it becomes a liquid, then start swishing it similar to mouth wash. It may feel strange at first to take a spoonful of oil in one’s mouth. It’s definitely one of the best tasting oils to swoosh with.
  2. Discard the oil in the trash can. Do not swallow any of the oil because it will be full of toxins.
