Introduction

The purpose of this article is to review the proposed therapeutic benefits of chamomile on participants with anxiety through randomized clinical trials and see if a cause and effect relationship can be concluded. The potential therapeutic relationship of consuming chamomile to participants that are suffering from generalized anxiety disorder to be explored includes the rise and fall of anxiety levels measured by the researchers to deduce a potential relationship.

Review of Articles

The first article that I reviewed, “Chamomile (Matricaria Recutita) May Provide Antidepressant Activity in Anxious, Depressed Human: An Exploratory Study”, was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, study that involved fifty-seven participants with mild to moderate generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) randomized into either one group receiving chamomile or a second group receiving a placebo.1 Nineteen of the participants had anxiety with comorbid depression, sixteen of the participants had anxiety with a past history of depression, and twenty-two of the participants had anxiety with no current or past history of depression.
