Porsche Promises Taycan Will Go From 0 To 62 in 3.5 seconds
This week Porsche of Great Britain teased its first battery-electric car on Twitter, and we assure you that can become an object of envy. They announced that the new car will be able to go from 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds, which is pretty fast for an electric car. They have also recently revealed its official name on a ceremony dedicated to “70 years of Porsche Sport Cars”, changing its working title “Mission E” to Taycan.
“The name can be roughly translated as “lively young horse,” referencing the imagery at the heart of the Porsche crest, which has featured a leaping steed since 1952. The Eurasian name also signifies the launch of the first electric sports car with the soul of a Porsche.”, says the official website of Porsche and adds, “At Porsche, the vehicle names generally have a concrete connection with the corresponding model and its characteristics. The name “Boxster” describes the combination of the boxer engine and the roadster design; Cayenne denotes fieriness; the Cayman is sharp and agile; and the Panamera, inspired by the Carrera Panamericana long-distance race, offers more than any standard sedan. The name Macan is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger, with connotations of suppleness, power, fascination, and dynamics.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is also known that the car will produce more than 600 horsepower and the range will be around 310 miles in accordance with the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
Porsche has serious intentions when it comes to electrification of its product range. The company has already doubled the amount it was planning to invest in electromobility and increased it to more than 6 billion. The additional funds will be used for the development of Taycan model, for electrification and hybridization of existing models, for developing new technologies and production sites.
