No Justification Needed

Dear Youngling,

When you’ve lived as long as I have, you’ll realize that there will be things you can and should do just because you want to.

The world can be a burden and society and their damn rules can be an unnecessary weight. The pressure of doing what is necessary, right, and accepted can be overwhelming.

When that happens, a gentle reminder dear youngling, it’s okay to do things you want to do without justifying it.

Dance in the rain, in the middle of the subway.
Wear pajamas the whole day and eat ice cream.
Eat at 3 am because you’re hungry.
Cry your eyes out.
Take a work break.
Go to the spa in the middle of the week.
Have a movie marathon.
Go boxing.

Do whatever you want. No explanations are needed.

You’re allowed to allow yourself to do what you need. It doesn’t mean you lack discipline or focus — it just means you need to take care of yourself. It just means that you need to put yourself first so that you can top up your emotional bank. You’re allowed to be kind to yourself.

Do what is necessary to make you happy, no justifications are needed.
