I agree that having political conversations is difficult, especially when you hold a different viewpoint. As you talked about, I was raised to politically believe and stand for a certain side. However, as I have gotten older I have formed some beliefs that are on the opposite side. I find myself keeping my mouth shut to avoid conflict during family conversations instead of saying what I truly feel. I think this applies to people as a whole becasue sometimes we find it much easier to say nothing than to stick up for our beliefs. I tend to stray away from the topic of politics because I don’t enjoy conflict, but I think political conversations are important if they can be executed respecfully.
