Alex’s diary on 12/31 2020
It was casually mentioned in the press conference that we are just part of 200 people in a designated project, which tests everyone who entered taiwan after 12/13.
There is no question that Taiwan is doing well with the infection control. Of course, the early preparation and quick response do help Taiwan sit a very solid position to combat the spread of the virus. On the other hand, another inconvenient truth is that the inflection control involves very little concern about human right and people’s mental health. After all, as long as the virus does not spread or enter the community, the aim always justifies the means.
Yesterday was the one year anniversary of Taiwan’s combat against the covid-19. A special program was dedicated to revisit all the efforts and dedications made to combat the virus and to celebrate the success. The only thing that was never appreciated is the hardship and sacrifice of those who had to go through tough quarantine and turbulent restriction in the border control, having their freedom taken away to secure the grant success.
