Great piece. For some reason the boy in the font center stood out to me the most. What do I see? I see young boys in need of love, encouragement, and right to an education. So interesting that I came across this post. I had been thinking earlier last week on so many voices, minds, and talents that society has ignored and silenced for hundreds of years. I had thought about writing a piece on it here on Medium. I imagined all of those voices 100, 200, 300, 400, 500+ years ago that were silenced simply because they were born in poverty, or considered useful to work in the land, or because of their gender. I can imagine how many great advancements we’d see, ideas, or inventions and innovations we’d witness. I believe everyone has great potential. I grew up in an inner city neighborhood in Chicago. I saw all kinds of things. Violence, huge crime rate, gang violence, prostitution. When we moved to the suburbs it was a completely different world to me. So as one of the previous posters said, a lot of what may be taught is survival.
Yale or Jail? What do you see?
