Amazon Linux 2 desktop in Amazon WorkSpaces
I just finished setting up Amazon Linux 2 desktop as part of Amazon WorkSpaces.
Free tier version is 2vCPUs 4Gb memory 80Gb root volume, 50Gb user volume.
This is a good option if you want the desktop experience of Linux and you don’t feel like setting it up on your Mac or PC. It is a good option for developers to try out things on Linux without needing to create EC2 instances and SSHing into it.
This 2vCPU/4Gb memory version performs roughly in between of my new Macbook Pro and my Macbook Air based on my py-score little Python program. Macbook Pro does it in 21sec, Macbook Air in 36sec and this Linux WorkSpace in 27sec :)
