Just an Update

I have been doing a specialized treatment of prednisone, rogaine, cortisone shots and a corticosteroid cream. Today was my first follow up with my doctor (4 weeks into treatment) and to be honest, it didn’t go so great.

In the past four weeks that I’ve been doing this treatment my alopecia has gotten progressively worse. Not that’s not to say that the treatment itself is making it worse but, it sure isn’t making it better. My doctor was actually shocked and said he was expecting growth or at least stability to be present.

So what does that mean for me? Well, I have four more weeks of treatment for something to happen. After the trial, I can only hope for the best. I can’t go back on prednisone for a while because it is not safe to be on it for long periods of time. Rogaine seems to be more of a gimmick and I’m not really seeing much results from it. If anything I would just continue the cortisone shots and corticosteroid cream.

Another strange thing that happened was that the injections I got today hurt A LOT more than what they usually do. The injection sites also bleed heavily which I guess could be due to my scalp thinning from all of the steroids.

This whole process is very frustrating. Not only is my hair falling out in chunks, but my skin is breaking out like crazy. I’m not sleeping and I have been in a horrible funk for weeks now. But I am also beyond lucky because I have an amazing support system. My family and a few friends are the reason why I will keep trying. I have to remember that it could always be worse and I am thankful that I’m healthy otherwise.

I guess I just have to stay positive and ride it out for another four weeks. Maybe tomorrow I will wake up with a full head of hair 😂.

Until next time :)
