Great comment to which I would add that we need to hit “bottom” hard to finally get where we need to go. It’s a recovery metaphor: Many an oblivious person on a destructive path need a “hard landing” to change themselves and it’s time for those of us at the top of the crumbling mountain to take the blinders off and look in the mirror and take the moral inventory of our culture. If we are to lay racism to rest, part of the hard work is to roll around in identity-laden conversations and be uncomfortable as hell to finally grow. No soft landing would ever get “our” attention..
