The core components of the power adapter mainly include: transformers, PCB boards, photocouplers, and shells.

Regarding the certifications and certification marks of power adapters in various countries in the world, some customers may not be particularly clear about the power adapter standard. Here we introduce a few common certification terms.

Ⅲ. Common power adapter certification terms:

1. CE certification

More and more products are using CE certification. If a product has a CE mark, it means that the product meets the requirements of a series of European directives such as safety, health, environmental protection and consumer protection. If the product meets the relevant requirements, it can be affixed with the CE mark, but if it does not meet the relevant requirements, it can not be affixed with the CE mark.

2. CCC product certification

The so-called 3C certification was born on May 1, 2002, which is the abbreviation of English China Compulsory Certification, meaning “China Compulsory Certification.” If the product is listed in the First Batch of Products Subject to Compulsory Product Certification issued by the General Administration of Quality Supervision and Supervision Administration Committee on State Accreditation and Approval, mandatory testing and review of the product must be implemented. If the products listed in the catalogue have not been certified by the designated agency, they cannot be sold, imported or shipped from the factory if they are not certified for labeling in accordance with the regulations. After the implementation of this mark, it replaced the original “Great Wall” mark. The “Great Wall” mark has been invalid since May 1, 2003. It should be noted that the 3C mark is not a quality mark, but a basic safety certification.

3. CQC certification

The China Quality Certification Center (CQC) can authorize the CQC certification, and the products affixed with the CQC certification mark are certified by the national certification body. The purpose of the certification is to be safe and meet the national response quality standards.

4. CB certification

The CB system (IEC system for conformity testing and certification of electrical products) is an international system operated by IECEE. The certification bodies of each member country of IECEE test the safety performance of electrical products on the basis of IEC standards. The test results, namely the CB test report and the CB test certificate, are mutually recognized in the member states of IECEE. The purpose is to reduce international trade barriers due to the need to meet the certification or approval criteria of different countries. IECEE is the abbreviation of the International Electrotechnical Commission’s organization for conformity testing and certification of electrical products.

5. PCT certification

“Products that want to enter the customs territory of the Russian Federation must obtain a national standard conformity certificate (GOST conformity certificate) issued by the Russian State Standards and Metrology Commission.” The law in Russia stipulates that. Therefore, to enter the Russian market, you must obtain this certification, but our country China is very different. We only need to have the Russian PCT standard certification, which is equivalent to getting a pass to enter and exit Russia. (Note: Nothing is perfect, for there are very few products that do not have access to Russia even with a certificate)

6. PSE certification

Japan’s DENTORL Law (Electrical Device and Material Control Law) stipulates that 498 products must pass safety certification to enter the Japanese market. Among them, 165 types of A products should obtain the diamond-shaped PSE mark, and 333 types of B products should obtain the round power supply PSE mark. For example, a Japan charger adapter that wants to be sold in Japan needs a PSE certification.

7. ETL certification

ETL is the abbreviation for Electrical Testing Laboratories (Electrical Testing Laboratories). The ETL laboratory was founded by American inventor Edison in 1896 and enjoys a high reputation in the United States and the world. Like UL and CSA, ETL can test and issue ETL certification marks in accordance with UL standards or American national standards, and can also issue composite certification marks in accordance with UL standards or American national standards and CSA standards or Canadian standards at the same time. The “us” in the lower right indicates that it is applicable to the United States, the “c” in the lower left indicates that it is applicable to Canada, and both “us” and “c” are applicable to both countries. Any electrical, mechanical and electromechanical products can be tested by EMC to test product performance. As long as the product has the ETL mark affixed, it means that the product has undergone the ETL test and passed. Passing ETL means conforming to relevant industry standards.

8. EN certification

EN (European Standard): According to the common obligations of participating countries, passing this EN standard will give legal status to the relevant national standards of a certain member country, or revoke the relevant standards of a certain country that is opposed to it. That is to say, the national standards of the member states must be consistent with the EN standards.

9. TUV certification

TUVR-Heinland German Rheinland Technical Supervision Company is Germany’s larger product safety and quality certification body and a government-recognized testing agency. TUV and FCC certification, CE certification, CSA certification and UL certification are all at the same level with authorities. If you want to enter the German market, you must pass TUV certification. Therefore, TUV certification and the above five marks can be seen on various IT products and household appliances.

10. CSA certification

The Canadian Standards Association is abbreviated as CSA, which means Canadian Standards Association. It was established in 1919, and electronic appliances in the North American market must obtain CSA certification. Canada’s larger certification body is CSA, and it is also one of the more famous safety certification bodies in the world. All types such as machinery, building materials, electrical appliances, computer equipment, office equipment, environmental protection, medical fire safety, sports, entertainment can be tested and provided product safety certification by it.

11. GS certification

GS means “Geprufte Sicherheit” in German (safety has been certified), and it also means “Germany Safety” (German Safety). GS certification is a voluntary certification based on the German Product Safety Law (SGS) and tested in accordance with the European Union standard EN or the German industrial standard DIN. It is a recognized German safety certification mark in the European market. With the GS certification mark, it means that it is safe and has passed the test of an independent organization with credibility. It is different from CE because it does not have legal requirements, but the safety awareness has been deeply rooted in the hearts of ordinary consumers. If there is a product with GS certification mark, and a product without GS certification mark, then products with GS certification must be more competitive.

12. UL certification

UL is the abbreviation of Underwriter Laboratories Inc, which means the Underwriters Laboratories of the United Kingdom. It was born in 1894, and the most authoritative laboratory in the United States belongs to UL. It is also a private organization, and it also conducts safety tests and appraisals in the world. It is different from other organizations as an independent, non-profit, professional organization that conducts experiments for public safety. It adopts scientific testing methods to study and determine whether various materials, devices, products, equipment, buildings, etc. are harmful to life and property; to determine, compile and issue corresponding standards and help reduce and prevent damage to life and property. At the same time, it will carry out fact-finding research business. In short, it is mainly engaged in product safety certification and operating safety certification business. Its purpose is to obtain products with a fairly safe standard for the market and contribute to the guarantee of personal health and property safety. In terms of product safety certification as an effective means to eliminate technical barriers to international trade, UL also plays an active role in promoting the development of international trade.

13. FCC certification

Introduction: FCC Certification (US Federal Communications Commission) was established by COMMUNICATIONACT in 1934 as an independent agency of the US government and directly responsible to Congress. Many radio application products, communication products and digital products require FCC approval to enter the US market. The United States Federal Communications Commission, (FCC), has formulated a series of product quality and performance standards related to the electromagnetic compatibility of electronic equipment and the personal safety of operators. These standards developed by the FCC have been used by many people, and they have also won the certification of world’s national technology regulatory agencies or similar institutions. Because of that, many electronic products, whether it is the technical manual of that factory, are printed with a certification issued by the FCC that meets a certain standard or declares that they meet a certain standard of the FCC.

14. NF certification

NF is the code name of the French standard, which was implemented in 1938, and its governing body is the French Association for Standardization (AFNOR). The French Association for Standardization (AFNOR) is a non-profit non-profit organization established in 1926 in accordance with the French decree of 1901 and recognized and funded by the government. The association is the core of the French standardization system. NF service certification is a voluntary NF mark certification that confirms that the quality and reliability of a service meets the quality and performance required by French, European and international standards. It involves moving sites, furniture storage units, and travel agencies, emergency repair and towing, passenger transportation, personal safety, lifelong education. The tourism service standards established by France are well-known, including hospitality, hotels, transportation and satisfaction surveys.
