I switched from Sublime to VSC (as I call it) a little over two years ago, and have never looked back. Even on my Surface Pro 4 with a paltry 2 GB of RAM, VSC has never given me any problems and starts up in a couple of seconds at most.

On my Surface 5 or my zBook at work, VSC starts instantly. Search/replace is extremely fast, it doesn’t freeze, TypeScript support out of the box is awesome; Python support is an extension away.

I leave it open 8–10 hours a day with no adverse affects. I never checked the RAM usage because I never had a reason to. It’s an awesome editor in my opinion.
