What is CRO?

Cronos (CRO) is a cryptocurrency that was developed and released by the Crypto.com exchange company. The CRO token is the native token of the Cronos blockchain that was developed by the same company.

The CRONOS chain uses a Proof of Authority (POA) consensus mechanism and a BETA launch took place in late 2021. The chain is Ethereum compatible and it has been configured to run alongside / in parallel to the Crypto.org chain. The main purpose of the chain is to provide utility to the users of the Crypto.com platform, in the same way the Binance Smart Chain and Binance Chains do for Binance users.

The Crypto.com platform run a Pay app that allows users to get cashback by utilising their CRO to make payments with merchants. Users can also stake CRO via the app to receive rewards for providing that stake.

Ultimately the aim of the CRO token is to further build utility via common functionality that we see across a number of tokens and chains:

• Staking
• Cashback
• HODLing
• Spending

With the large amount of apparent marketing spend that Crypto.com seem to have (Arena sponsorship deals, relentless online advertising etc.) it would be no surprise to see growth in the Cronos chain over time.

How to buy CRO?

Cronos (CRO) is widely available on exchanges. However we found the best way to get your hands on some is via Etoro.
