Desktop vs Laptop vs All-In-One

We’ve all been there before. You go turn on your trusty old desktop computer and it refuses to boot. You try and try to figure it out and maybe you do and it finally does come on. But when it does, it is painfully slow to boot up. You tell yourself it’s definitely time for a new PC. But today, there are so many options if you are in the market for a computer, it is easy to drown in the choices. That is even more applicable if you are flexible in the size or form factor of the PC you are going to purchase. Typically the choices line up to: desktop (tower), laptop, or all-in-one. There are various forms of each but those are the main broad categories. Everyone has seen a desktop tower and a laptop, but for those who don’t know what an all-in-one is, it is a desktop with a built-in monitor. An iMac is a good example of an all-in-one.

So which one should you buy? A lot of it depends on your workflow and what you will be doing with the computer. That is a pretty vague statement so let’s look at a few different categories and how each stacks up.

1. Portability
