Connecting DJI drones from Altizure App on Samsung Android 6.0

We have received a few reports about difficulties of connecting DJI drones from Altizure App on Samsung Android 6.0.

You may have connection problem if your phone (Galaxy S6, S7, etc) runs into one of the following cases.

  1. It runs the latest Android 6.0 system.
  2. It has DJI Go or other 3rd-party DJI apps installed.
  3. It does not connect to the drone in Altizure (or Altizure Beta ).
  4. It does not connect to the drone in DJI Go after having used Altizure App.

Then, please try the following solution:

  1. follow this link to clear the default apps.
  2. connect to remote controller via USB.
  3. select Altizure.
  4. After using Altizure, follow the similar steps to clear Altizure Beta’s default, then you can switch to DJI Go.

Why does this happen?

When an Android phone is connected to DJI’s remote controller, there might be many apps that are eligible to be connected to the device. So the Android system lists all these apps and asks users to choose an app for the USB devices.

Notice the options of JUST ONCE and ALWAYS.

If you choose “JUST ONCE”, you will be able to see this dialog again when you plug in your USB cable next time.

If you choose “ALWAYS”, then Android system will always open that app for you when USB cable is plugged in.

Surprisingly or not, Samsung’s latest TouchWiz system, which is based on Android 6.0, removed the options. It sets the app you choose as the default app for the USB devices. So if you use DJI Go for this USB devices, you have to clear the defaults in DJI Go’s settings in order to use other DJI apps. Similarly if you used Altizure, you have to clear Altizure’s defaults when you want to use DJI Go.

We are, unfortunately, not able to change the system settings. What we could do later on is to add a shortcut to DJI Go and Altizure’s app info, so you can quickly clear the default when you want switch between DJI Go and Altizure.
