Getting an error message ‘No SSL-connection’ while installing Avira
Avira antivirus is one of the most favorable security software among the customers and almost everyone wants to install and use this security suite on their devices in order to prevent them from emerging online as well as offline threats including viruses, worms, etc.
But what to do if an error message displaying “No SSL-connection” appears in front of the users, when they eagerly wants to activate the Avira product or renew the product’s license.
Getting such an error message may disturb the users but only for some timeas via this article, we are providing some guidelines for our customers. They should have a look on these cases and check the setting on their systems:
Case 1. The issue occurs when the product is unable to recognize the windowssystem settings, in this case:
· Double-click the Avira icon in your system to open your Avira Control Center
· Navigate to ‘Help’followed by ‘License management’
· Inside the license wizard hit on the ‘Proxy Settings’ button
· Enable “Don’t use a proxy server” from the setting section
· Close the window by clicking OK option
· Now, try the activation process again
Case 2. Do you use a proxy for the internet or security software that has installed a local proxy?
Usually and for most of the internet users, the configuration of a proxy is not a necessity for connecting a system with the internet. But if the device is a part of a company network or if the security software product that installs a local proxy for filtering internet data is used, then it is compulsory to set it up within the Avira software also. This will make the Avira product update to be done successfully.
In order to check if a proxy is set on your computer or not follow as stated below:
· Go to the LAN settings, by followings the below given procedure according to your Windows’ version
o Windows XP users: Click Start → Control Panel →Network and Internet →Internet Options → Connections → LAN settings
o Windows 7 users: Click Start → Control Panel →Network and Internet →Internet Options → Connections → LAN settings
o Windows 8 users: Desktop →(Windows+X) keys→ Control Panel →Network and Internet →Internet Options → Connections → LAN settings
o Windows 10 users: Click on the Windows start button →Control Panel → Network and Internet → Internet Options → Connections → LAN settings
· In the LAN settings, check whether the option “Use a proxy server for your LAN” is active or not
· Now, note downthe address and the port of the proxy
· Close the configuration window by clicking OK option
Double-click the Avira icon in your system to open your Avira Control Center and Navigate to ‘Help’ followed by ‘License management’ after that click on the ‘Proxy Settings’ button,inside the license wizard. Now you will see the option “Connections via this proxy server”, enter the address and the port of the proxy here. Leave the other fields untouched.
Case 3:The already installed Security software with firewall blocks the Avira product update process “fact.exe”
Examine if some other security software with firewall is already installed on your system. The users can search for the installed software via the control panel or by going through the program list of the Windows start menu.
In case the user finds an already installed security software with a firewall, they can view and set which application to be block and approve. Thus, by using these settings of the firewall ensure that no Avira program files including sched.exe, update.exe and fact.exe, are blocked.
