BEST INDONESIAN MOVIES OF ALL TIME ON NETFLIX & VIDIO
Everyone loves a good movie. When a movie has a good storyline, it’s definitely worth our time to watch. A meaningful movie can stretch our sense of self. There’s something special about the way movie affects each and every one of us. It could be said, those meaningful movies have more positive effects. It’s hard to list every fantastic Indonesian movie to watch — so many movies, for God’s sake! Indonesian movies are capable of great ideas, they’re getting better and satisfying the audience.
If you ask me who is my favorite actor, and why? Well, my personal favorite is not going to please everyone. Perhaps unsurprisingly here, with a high placing for Marissa Anita, Lutesha, Raihaanun, Reza Rahadian, Angga Yunanda, and Arswendi Bening Swara. Why is everyone glorifying Dian Sastro and forgetting about Marissa Anita? She’s also the queen. The feeling, like…you can be addicted to her…is real! Marissa Anita’s voice is so beautiful and has amazing vibes in every character she dives in, and so do they.
Think of how many different characters, Reza Rahadian really can play anything. Next, we have Angga Yunanda as a new generation of an actor. Since Dua Garis Biru / Two Blue Stripes, his career has continued to soar. Last but not least, Arswendi Bening Swara, is over 50 and still delivering his best performances yet! They have been my fave for quite some time now.
Indonesia’s movie industry is on a roll. Meanwhile, the bulk of Indonesian box office is still dominated by comedy, horror, and romance, but I consider some of them are overrated. Below, some of the greatest movies that deserve Indonesian movies of all time. Unfortunately, those are still unable to attract local audiences. I mean, based on the number of tickets sold nationwide, but succeed at world film festivals. I would consider those movies to be ‘underrated’. Therefore, we decided to make a top 24 of the most underrated movies in history (most of them).
Keep in mind, I look for the best Indonesian movies only on Netflix and Vidio — there are just so many of them online! Stop using a pirate streaming site, we’re living in a golden age of streaming. Now it is easier than ever. So, here are twenty one Indonesian movies with something for everyone, unconventional, controversial, unique, and mind-expanding. From biopic to based on the novel.
