I would put the incessant number of bots, spammers, auto-DM’ers, auto-followers, auto-tweeters etc., way above any type of human-driven abuse (like the ones you describe), as the actual problem with Twitter. I think the real abuse is that Twitter is mostly not human anymore.

My account has over 5,000 followers on Twitter, but probably over 90% of them are bots of some sort.

Twitter has made it way too easy for people to abuse their API, which in the end has provided a playground for people who want to use the channel, but not as a human interaction media.
