“Minikay Wa Minninka ” — (My house is your house) Banadiri Proverb

A response to Goobjoog publication “Barnaamika Weydiimo: Muqdisho yaa iska leh?” — a gathering which took place by the nomadic invaders discussing “Who dose Mogadishu belong too?”

District Shingaani and Xamar Weyna on the left and right — Mogadishu 1930s

Mogadishu an ancient pre-Islamic Arab/ Persian trading port city of which its descendants (Xamrawi’s) are the founders of the Swahili Coast and a successful Indian Ocean trade routes. Xamrawi’s are a make-up of “the five tribes of the District of Shingaani and the four tribes of Xamar Wayna” as shown in the image above. Mogadishu was known as the “white pearl of Africa”, sat on the most fertile southern land of the indigenous people the “Wagosha”(Bantu Origins) pulled across by the Jubba river, Shabelle river and ended in the port city of Kismayo. Since Somalias’independence in 1961, the nomadic communities from the Northern desert terrain of Galmudug, Puntland, Somaliland, Djibouti and Ogaden have entered Swahili land on their conquest to “take back” Somali nomadic farming land and cities from “guest” which their “forefathers allowed” and welcomed many centuries ago.

After the constant attack from the Portugues voyage on the coastal port cities of East Africa in the 14th to 16th century — an agreement with the Omani Sultan has undergone to be the “protectorate” and the defence of the coastal Swahili people, which later was dismantled by the colonial powers of France (Comoros Islands and Madagascar), United Kingdom (Kenya), Germany (Tanzania), Italy (Somalia Republic) and Portugal (Mozambique). The legacy of divide and conquer has created new problems for the coastal Banadiri city dwellers — this publication will focus on “why the invention of Somalia” is part of the social cleansing of the descendant of the Northern Swahili Coastal People.

“Who does the city belong too?” was the topic of discussion and the young nomadic audience try to figure out their inherited political problems. The biggest arguments put forth was that the city belongs to a Nomadic tribe called Hawiya or the city belongs to all the nomadic clans of Somalia as it was the capital city and no one should take claim for it.

The Somali apartheid political 4.5 system, which is a representation of the “noble” four nomadic tribes who claim to be descendant of a man called “Soomal” of which he had nine children and four reside in modern-day Somalia -Hawiya, Daarrod, Dir (including Issaq clan/Somalilanders) and Rahanweyn. The .5 are considered to be the minority tribes like Banadiris, Wagosha and other “small nomadic’ tribes who considered “less” due to heretical stigma. In addition, there is no statistical or data evidence to prove such claim of “minority” rather it is used to justify the takeover of the Banadiri Coastal region and Wagosha Land.

To the average Somali nomad — Mogadishu is not just the capital city as Somalia has many other cities with a vast population in the north, this city is special to them as it was the place which enlightened the population with Islam, Urban Planning, Culture, Customs..etc. In the new era of globalisation, Nomads no longer want to associate themselves with their past roots and any conversation of going back to their ancestral land will lead to “ why would you send me back to the fire of nothingness, you're an evil man” — the civil war in Somalia is not a complex problem to understand, it was basically the slow preparation of the take over “Southern Somalia or Swahili land” which has been successful while many other candidates are fighting over stolen war booty.

Here is my proposal — return and rebuild your ancestral land as no righteous God-fearing people will ever take that from you. For East Africa to prosper once again, justice must return to these land and wickedness needs to be given the death penalty. And most importantly, governance to self determine our own destiny by being an independent state from the rest of Somalia is the only form of justice.

I do honestly believe Somalia is dead and has been since the day it was created.

Our downfall was being too generous to people who show no mercy. For those who want to try and debunk this blog, you should read “ The Invention of Somalia” by Ali Jimale Ahmed PhD, “The Bantu-Jareer Somalis: Unearthing Apartheid in the Horn of Africa” by Mohamed A. Eno or even world refugee documentation and lastly, “Islam and Swahili Culture on the Banadiri Coast” by Mohamed M. Kassim PhD,…ect. And many other scholars will agree on the historical understanding of this region.

I will constantly remind the nomadic communities that revising historical events will only add fuel to the flame.

Lastly, for those who claim to be God fearing — and closed their eyes, ears and souls to the tyranny of your so called leaders …

When the time is right by Allah will — we shall return stronger than ever with a promise of victory.

I will see you soon live in the flesh some where you’re at the height of comfort.
